I found this place in the summer of 2009. It’s 20 miles south of where I live. I took my friends there last fall. Get on your bike and go for a ride on back roads. Who knows what you’ll find.
Portraits of ten women.
Thanks. I find if I keep my photography honest, it’s easier for the viewer to connect with what they’re looking at. I try real hard to keep bullshit out of my art :)

Harvesting mulberries :) Lay down a blanket and give the tree a shake. The hardest part is getting the stain off my fingers.
Anna has been in Rhode Island for two days now. These are for her.
This is from a wild columbine I planted in the yard a few years ago. I harvest the seeds and spread them around the land I live on. Take a drive on some country roads and pull over to harvest the seeds from the flowers you see. Spread them in your garden. You’ll have some wonderful native plants next summer that will attract really beautiful butterflies.
Anna’s and Mine 2012. This series uses nuance to explore the similarities and differences of the male and female body.
Anna and I collaborated on this project, coming up with what parts of us should be compared and examined. It felt great to go through the process of being directed by her. I think we are very much each others’ equal and to show that was what inspired me to begin this.
Anna left three days ago for Rhode Island to begin her three year physical therapy doctorate. Because of this, the series is concluded for now, but will hopefully pick up where it left off.
Anna and I took the back roads home after our date in Lawrence. They weren’t lyin’ about that moon. One of the reasons why I like this photo is that it’s divided in such a way that it looks like the viewer is peering out from a (my/his/her own) skull. The left eye socket sees the road ahead, the nasal cavity is in the middle, and of course the moon and trees are seen by the right eye socket.
